Toronto-based @CieslokMedia Puts Board of Directors in Place

Toronto-based Cieslok Media has put a Board of Directors in place, composed of both investment firms’ representatives and two with advertising experience including one of North America’s best known media strategists.

Sitting on the Board, in addition to Jörg Cieslok, president and CEO of Cieslok Media, are: Mitch Green, managing partner, Clairvest Group Inc.; Robbie Isenberg, principal, Clairvest Group; Doug Checkeris, partner, strategy, media and technology, GNR8R Marketing Group; and David Woods, GLH Group Family Investment Office, chairman of the Investment Committee;

Cieslok himself has more than 20 years of experience in the out-of-home sector and has been building Cieslok Media since buying the Canadian operations of Titan in October, 2013.

Since Green joined Clairvest in 2002, his responsibilities have focused on domain research and investment origination, structuring and execution. He previously worked in leveraged finance for BNP Capital Markets and in corporate finance for Bank of America after beginning his career in operations management at Bloomingdale’s flagship store.

Isenberg joined Clairvest in 2010 and participates in all areas of the investment process. Prior to joining Clairvest,

Robbie worked as a Senior Case Team Leader for the Monitor Group based in New York. Robbie also earlier worked in the investment banking group of Credit Suisse in Los Angeles focused on leveraged finance and mergers and acquisitions.

Checkeris was part of the leadership team at Media Buying Services that literally redefined the Canadian agency landscape by pioneering the concept of liberated media planning and buying from traditional agencies. MBS went on to become the largest media company in the country and was eventual acquired by WPP and became known as MediaCom where Checkeris was the Canadian CEO and then promoted to North American CEO overseeing seven offices and more than $6 billion in annual media spending.

With over 25 years of agency experience, Checkeris has worked and managed the entire spectrum of agency disciplines and has worked with such clients as P&G, GlaxoSmithKline, TD/Canada Trust, Subway, Warner Bros., Audi, BMW, Mini, Volkswagen, E*Trade, Pfizer, Discovery Card and Rogers.

Since leaving MediaCom, Checkeris has focused on several startups including Qwyrk which brings sound to digital self expression, Nestbuilder.com which is disrupting the market for real estate lead generation in the US, and UnReel Games which offers an innovative new user experience to online slot gaming.

As a member of GNR8R’s leadership team, he brings a drive for new ideas, directions and business models that challenge the status quo.

Woods is also an experienced advertising professional, spending over 12 years in an executive role at MediaCom, over five years in an executive role at Pattison Outdoor Company and Jim Pattison Group, and recently joined GLH Group – Family Investment Office as chairman, Investment Committee. He is member of the Board of Directors of several organizations, including Nu Flow Holdings Limited, where he is chairman of the Board, Aware Ltd. and Forge First Holdings Company.
