Job Losses at @ExterionMediaUK

Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief

News just in, including of course the day’s obligatory rumour, gossip and intrigue along side it, is that Exterion Media announced a whole swathe of job losses in London early Monday morning.

Some are saying that this could be a deck clearing exercise as a precursor to some form of merger or acquisition BUT without more details on how many and who exactly might have gone it would be hard to say.

It does however look like, Simon Harrington Marketing and Business Development Director has been let go.

Simon had been with CBS Outdoor for just over five years and looks like he may have been made a scapegoat for the disastrous and costly foray into roadside digital under the final days of the original CBS-era.

From what we hear, poor old Simon was entrusted with making two digital screens work – two that is, that should never have been built in the first place, namely: –

  1. Site 76 adjacent to the M4 in Chiswick – quickly christened the 76th best screen on the M4
  2. The Birmingham Express site at the Aston Science Park on the A38m Aston Expressway

Both of these digital excursions surely highlight the perils of an outdoor company stripping itself of quality management resource with any heritage in OOH.
