Digital View Back In The Signage Game

Andrew Neale

Looks like Digital View are back on the digital signage scene proper with the launch of a new low cost 1080P/60 networkable solid state digital signage media player.

It’s an embedded linux system like their old **RP-300 but this time around it has a built-in command set for FTP-based remote content management (DV-SYNC) – the idea we expect is that they will publish the API and allow companies to dream up their own CMS solutions.

Their first software partners are the guys at Delivering Digital (I believe there is a story about them scheduled for tomorrow) who have created a fully customisable and full service CMS for the RP-500.

Digital View, the digital signage and retail media specialist, has added a high definition 1080P/60 network media player to its solid state digital signage media player family. The Remote Player 500 is a digital video and digital audio player designed for ‘bullet-proof’ reliability, with full support for playlist scheduling and cost effective remote networking. Running off compact flash memory, the Linux-based player supports all major HD video compression formats (MPEG4, WMV & AVI) and professional digital audio.

Delivering Digital are happy to tailor this to any customer’s ‘look and feel’ or ‘workflow requirement’ and therefore Digital View will be passing traditional network opportunities onto them directly.

**The solid state Remote Player 300 box is the ‘steel backbone’ of many digital out-of-home networks including CBS Outdoor’s Digital Escalator Panels in the London Underground, the Life Channel’s ‘Community Network’, Simply Media’s ‘Salon Network’ and Pharmacy Channel’s ‘Pharmacy TV’.
