New UK Pub Network To Be Sold By @DMediaComms

Sky and Molson Coors have announced the launch of UpLift Media. Billed as a new way to promote live sport, drinks and events in pubs it is in fact (not at all new and) very similar to what Kaleidovision/Brightspace Media, Avanti Screenmedia and Clear Channel’s Socialite once upon a time did or are currently supposed to do.

The initial rollout of UpLift Media started in May, with 2,000 screens launching into 1,000 selected pubs to create, what is described BUT not verified, as the largest network of digital advertising screens in the UK pub industry.

In return for having the screens in their venue (there is no cost to the landlord) landlords are told they will benefit from…

  • Between £600 and £1,200 per year fixed monthly payment from Sky and Molson Coors
  • Advertising their own offers and events
  • Promoting upcoming live Sky Sports fixtures
  • Molson Coors advertising to help sell more of the products they stock

Initially it seems that UpLift Media will display up to 12 different screen rotations over a two-minute time slot – a mix of still and animated content to bring products and brands to life.

Licensees can also promote their own events and offers on the digital screens.

Third party advertising will be sold by D-Media, a digital media communications services business.

Commenting on the launch, D-Media’s CEO Kevin Dougall said “This represents the culmination of five months of intense work by everyone involved in the project. From reshaping and interfacing existing software platforms, to sourcing hardware and to developing efficient processes, the team had its work cut out. It is testament to the team’s skill and tenacity that UpLift Media launched in less than six months”.

As the screens are given away there should be no surprise that they are Samsung. The network is run by Scala digital signage software (running SoC).
