Costco & PRN Switch on 4K TV Walls at All Warehouse Locations

PRN [1], a STRATACACHE [2] company and leader of in-store shopper engagement solutions, today announced the deployment of 4K technology to the in-warehouse Costco [1] TV Network.

Powered by PRN, the new Costco TV Network is now in all 487 U.S. Costco locations, including Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.

With this merchandising innovation, the Costco TV Network showcases content in both native 4K and 1080p – so Costco members can easily compare viewing experiences and choose the one they want to take home.

Analysts expect a fast 4K adoption. According to a recent BI Intelligence forecast, by 2024, 4K TVs will be in roughly half of all North American households and by 2030 in nearly all North American households.

4K delivers four times the picture resolution of 1080p. That means finer detail, brilliant clarity, and near-photographic smoothness. From sports and entertainment to brand advertising and Costco messages, content pops on the screens like never before.

“Upgrading the Costco TV Network with 4K capabilities delivers a comprehensive solution at brick and mortar retail,” says Kevin Carbone, CEO of PRN. “We’re excited to support Costco’s leadership in the Consumer Electronics category, enhance this strategic communication platform inside the warehouse, and help Costco members make big purchase decisions. It’s a triple win that builds on our longstanding partnership with Costco.”

Positioned at the high-traffic entrance of each Costco warehouse, the upgraded Costco TV Network provides brands an even more powerful opportunity to deliver their message at the beginning of the shopping experience, with featured products just steps away.

Costco Wholesale Corporation [4] operates an international chain of Costco membership warehouses that carry quality, name-brand and related private-label merchandise at substantially lower prices than are typically found at conventional wholesale or retail sources. The warehouses are designed to help small-to-medium-sized businesses reduce costs in purchasing for resale and for everyday business use. Qualified individuals also are allowed to purchase for their personal needs. The company has been recognized throughout the country for providing its employees with real living wages – the highest in the industry – and for its ethical business practices.

PRN is a major digital media company owned by STRATACACHE since July, 2015, and specializing in in-store shopper marketing solutions that activate shoppers along the path to purchase right up to the point of sale. PRN’s video and audio networks span over 6,600 retail locations within some of the nation’s top retailers. PRN’s scale, consumer focus, and innovation with mobile and audience targeting position both retailers and brands for success. PRN has offices in San Francisco and Bentonville, Arkansas.
