Eric Menzies has joined Impax Media, Montreal, as vice-president of network development and sales.

Eric MenziesThe media sales veteran brings nearly two decades of experience to Impax Media, the innovative digital out-of-home startup that’s planning a rapid expansion across Canada and the US.

An accomplished sales leader, Menzies joins Impax Media after an eight-year tenure at Bell Media (Astral Out-of-Home), where he was most recently director, street furniture advertising. In this role, Menzies was instrumental in securing and launching the Toronto Street Furniture product for Astral, and successfully introduced the Signature Column and Digital Transit Shelter and Column Networks in Toronto and Montreal, respectively.

Prior to joining Astral, Menzies was general manager, Ontario & Western Canada at Media Group, where he opened the Toronto offices of Neo-Traffic and Speed Experiential Marketing. In a previous role at Zoom Media Corp., Menzies launched the Zoom network in the U.S. and opened the New York office.

Impax Media’s new Digital Media Gate is an exciting innovation for retailers, media buyers and advertisers. Retractable lane gates with brilliant 1080dpi digital screens double as a security system and an advertising network targeting retail shoppers. The gates are mounted near checkout counters displaying branded ad content and customized messaging such as news, recipes and in-store promotions that shoppers can watch while waiting at the checkout. When lowered, the monitors block access to closed checkout lanes.

“Impax Media is an emerging force in the digital out-of-home industry, offering retailers and advertisers leading-edge technology and analytics,”
said Menzies, who is based in Toronto. “I am excited by the opportunity to build a meaningful presence in the retail landscape, and help develop an all-star team to grow our business.”
