Perhaps They Listen (Or Maybe They Won’t)

News reaches us from (of all places!!!) Digital Signage Today that ‘Exponation announces cancellation of DSE East‘ – the event of course that was planned to be held in Washington, D.C., in September 2009.

Our first thought is that perhaps folks in the industry actually listen. It was only less than two weeks ago on Saturday May 16th in our post ‘View From The Observation Deck‘ we said “We believe that the shows that deserve industry support should be ISE in Amsterdam, DSE in Las Vegas (but please not two US shows in one year), Screen Media Expo Europe and InfoComm” !!!!

Chris Gibbs, president of Exponation, which organises DSE told Digital Signage Today: “Digital Signage Expo East, scheduled for Washington, D.C., in September has been cancelled. However, industry feedback has indicated the need for a completely new kind of event to supplement the annual Digital Signage Expo in Las Vegas. We will announce these plans for 2010 shortly.”

DSE is good enough on its own and doesn’t need another show to support it – DSE East was a show too far in 2008. Let’s hope that common sense also prevails with what Chris plans and announces also going forward.
