Intersection has announced the launch of IxNConnect, a new content platform that aims to help transit agencies better communicate with their customers, enhance the rider experience, and maximize revenue with adjacent advertising.

We are told that IxNConnect allows transit agencies to make the most of their digital display networks, providing a central hub for managing and monitoring delivery of real-time arrival and schedule information, service updates, transit campaigns, and emergency messaging to screens system wide as targeted by line, station, and individual display.

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is the first transit system to control their digital signage through IxNConnect.

The IxNConnect platform integrates with transit agency data feeds and powers Intersection’s suite of digital displays. These include IxNSight displays, which show real-time transit information alongside dynamic advertising content;and IxNTouch kiosks, which provide interactive wayfinding and advertising capabilities. IxNConnect makes content and alert publishing seamless across display networks and delivers the right information to customers at the exact place and time it is needed. IxNConnect also gives transit agency managers an unprecedented level of visibility into passenger communications, with performance metrics and display analytics shown in a unified dashboard.

Ari Buchalter, CEO of Intersection told us “Our mission is to improve daily life in cities by bringing relevant and engaging content to public spaces. With IxNConnect, transit agencies can deliver the information their customers need more efficiently, have complete visibility and control of their network, and increase of the value of their assets to advertisers. We are thrilled to build on our partnership with the CTA and help position Chicago at the forefront of transit innovation.”

In April 2017 the CTA and Intersection announced the expansion of their partnership to create one of the country’s largest digital display networks in transit, which will have more than 400 street-facing and platform screens deployed systemwide. The CTA is using IxNConnect to ensure that customers will always have access to real-time transit information. IxNConnect comes at no cost to the CTA or riders because it is paid for by advertising revenues.

CTA President Dorval R. Carter, Jr. said “The Chicago Transit Authority is committed to providing transit customers as much information as possible to help them make informed commuting decisions. We are pleased that we’re able to leverage our expansive collection of digital advertising displays – which have improved commuting significantly – to increase the amount of helpful information we’re providing to CTA riders.”

The CTA joins a rapidly-expanding network of cities and transit agencies leveraging Intersection’s smart city and digital media solutions. With the rollout of IxNConnect and the suite of connected dynamic digital signage, Intersection is helping transit agencies improve the rider experience and streamline transit operations. By delivering informative and relevant content to consumers, Intersection’s media assets are highly noticed and offer advertisers the opportunity to engage consumers with adjacent advertising.
Intersection currently operates in all six of the top U.S. media markets – New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Dallas, as well as other major markets such as Charlotte, Houston, Minneapolis, New Jersey, Pittsburgh, Seattle, and London.

Intersection is currently deploying IxNConnect to its network of transit partners and plans to help other transit agencies across the globe transform their customer communications.
