Empowering Migraine Patients and Doctors at Point of Care

Patient engagement leader PatientPoint and publishing platform Migraine Again have announced a partnership that will bring best-in-class migraine education and support to physician offices in North America.

Through their partnership, PatientPoint and Migraine Again will distribute empowering insights to help patients better manage migraine disease and reduce the impact on their life and work. Video content will be featured in nearly 5,000 primary care and OB/GYN practices nationwide via PatientPoint digital waiting room screens.

PatientPoint Senior Vice President of Content & Creative Kate Merz told us “PatientPoint and Migraine Again are ideal partners because of our shared mission of empowering patients to live better lives. People with migraine need to know that they have options and, importantly, that they’re not alone. We’re proud to bring these important messages to patients through our platform and our partnership with Migraine Again.”

Approximately 1 in 7 Americans have been diagnosed with migraine, and migraine is a leading cause of U.S. emergency room and outpatient visits. Migraine also disproportionately affects women: According to recent estimates, nearly a quarter of women ages 18-44 suffer from these debilitating attacks, including acute headaches, nausea, visual disturbances and dizziness.

Migraine Again is an authentic wellness community—designed for patients, by patients—of migraine warriors and headache sufferers. Its aim is to offer free, evidence-based, supportive information about living with and treating migraines for more migraine-free days.

Migraine Again Chief Operating Officer Karl Dumas was quoted as saying “At Migraine Again, we’ve committed to empowering our readers to take charge of their own health and discover how to effectively manage their migraines—so that their migraines don’t manage them. By working with PatientPoint, we’re able to extend our mission and message into the critically important doctor’s office, where we can equip patients with content that enables them to truly partner with their provider to get the best care.”

PatientPoint and Migraine Again debuted the new waiting room content focused on migraine prevalence and treatment—during National Migraine and Headache Awareness Month in June. It joins several other PatientPoint segments devoted to migraine symptoms, prevention and treatment. PatientPoint will also soon feature Migraine Again messaging within comprehensive severe migraine education offered on its interactive exam room touchscreens. The touchscreen content includes dynamic videos, 3D anatomicals and other multimedia learning tools designed to help patients better understand their migraines, support patient-physician discussions and reinforce key steps for treatment compliance.
