Andrew Neale

NEC Display Solutions Europe will showcase the latest display technologies that are transforming the passenger experience and driving new revenue opportunities at Passenger Terminal EXPO, taking place at ExCeL in London from March 26-28, 2019.

Visitors to NEC’s stand #3025 will discover how digital signage solutions and DirectView LED screens provide new digital advertising revenue opportunities for airport operators, as well as providing stunning passenger information and wayfinding displays.

The NEC team will be on hand to demonstrate how airports can maximise the value of their investment in display technology by using real-time data to improve wayfinding, optimise passenger flow, and create more compelling advertising.

NEC will also be showcasing its new project that has transformed the passenger experience at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. The company recently engineered and installed two giant LED advertising and split-flap-board replacement screens at Arlanda, while successfully overcoming complex EMC interference issues that have traditionally limited LED use in busy airports.

Other highlights of NEC’s presence at Passenger Terminal EXPO include:

  • How passengers can enjoy a more efficient journey through airport terminals thanks to facial recognition technology
  • How airports facilitate passenger satisfaction with state-of-the art FIDS systems and smart queue management
  • Choosing the right technology when moving your wayfinding strategy to digital
  • The next generation Airport Control Room Solutions for traffic, security and baggage management

Richard Wilks, Director of Transportation at NEC Display Solutions told us “Like many industries these days, transportation is striving to capture that elusive X-factor – ‘experience. Airport operators around the world are spending billions on new hubs, and display technology is one of the most important factors in delivering unique experiences for those who pass through them.”

“Traditionally display was seen as a cost centre, but airports need to realize that they are an important revenue generator. Display technologies like DirectView LED create new opportunities for advertising – including for duty free retail and food and beverage concessions. What’s more, they are vital in creating a perfect passenger experience. From intelligent wayfinding that reduces queues, to communicating the airport’s services and even the location’s ‘brand’, intelligent large format displays can bring back a real sense of occasion to air travel.”

NEC Display Solutions has the widest portfolio of airport-related display products and solutions of any supplier globally, with long-term reliable installations in over 250 international airports worldwide including Heathrow, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Changi and Chicago.
