That Big RFP: A Little Breathing Room

Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief

It’s humid and the air is hot and sticky here in New York right now but Proposers seeking to win the Port Authority of NY and NJ’s massive advertising RFP are now breathing a sigh of relief.

That’s because the deadline to respond has been revised again, this time from July 25, 2019 to Friday, September 6, 2019, no later than 2:00 PM EST. The change was announced via the 9th ADDENDUM to the RFP last Thursday.

No word on why the due date was pushed back again but response dates for complex RFPs of this size and scope are normally changed when one or more respondent requests additional time.

The Port is “…seeking innovative proposals from firms interested in developing and implementing out-of-home advertising programs for its airports, bridges, tunnels and transit facilities … More than 266 million residents and visitors pas through these facilities annually, providing a unique opportunity for advertisers to reach the country’s largest and most valuable media market.”

Interested proposers can submit bids for the entire concession or cherry pick which of the four existing asset categories it wants to bid on. According to the RFP document the Port’s existing advertising assets generated almost USD 75 million dollars in 2018.
