As this is the twelfth year that we have documented our travels as part of our business, and as we approach the end of the year and the end of a decade, I guess we can, somewhat tongue-in-cheek, claim that we are entering our third decade of these ‘Travelogues’ as we approach 2020.
As we did this past year, we are starting to explore more of the globe in search of all that is good in our industry, and 2019 saw us venture down-under to put on a very successful AdTECH: OOH – Sydney Conference.
As we head into a new decade we encourage everyone in our industry to seek out broader horizons and look further afield than they have done previously. Don’t exhibit at the same old shows just because that is what you have done in the past, don’t just attend the typical trade shows that you frequent just because you have been to them before and just because everyone else goes. If you are really interested in learning, expanding those horizons we just mentioned, aim to get out and meet new people (and that ladies and gentlemen is how you learn), and make new friends. You should be looking for the next SXSW or a vertically oriented show that few others go to. Do not simply go through the motions with the same old, same old year after year. This is the beginning of a new decade. Think and act differently!
With Australia, our thoughts and prayers go to all those there living there at the moment, many of whom who are wilting under that intense heat and living with the constant threat of wildfires.
Australia is a region (we include New Zealand in this) that we believe, is incredibly well placed to become the leading market in programmatic and connected DOOH. There are lots of global clients looking for a good place to scale, it’s actually a fantastically advanced test-market, and there are very sophisticated mobile and data led industry startups there, all doing some really great things – we’d even go as far as saying that there are true pioneers there which cannot be found as easily, elsewhere.
Australia has the chance to take much more ownership of the AdTECH conversation and show the rest of the world what it can do. As regular readers and real AdTECH aficionados will know, we state that the ‘conversation’ is much more than just programmatic buying; it’s measurement, programmatic, revenue management and attribution.
Not to do any of our AdTECH: OOH Conferences elsewhere in the world any form of injustice but we really think that our Sydney event in September will be one of the most important events of the year as well as continuing to be our largest AdTECH conference worldwide.
