In August 2018 we wrote that [1] former Eyetease entrepreneur Richard Corbett joined Bird as Head of UK and Ireland for Bird but it seems that only 18 months later he’s out.
Bloomberg wrote [2] that since launching in London in 2018, the venture capital-backed startup has struggled to deploy its scooter-rental business as a result of tight regulation.
For some reason Richard Corbett blamed Brexit and was quoted as saying “It’s not for a lack of government wanting to change the law, but the political climate, There’s nothing more I think I can do personally to make things move quicker”.
Mind you, a proper spokesman for Bird in the U.K. declined to comment. Despite being banned in the U.K., the startup still has a small office based in London.
