Dentsu Assimilates @PosterscopeAust

Talk to anyone who dares tell it as it is in Australia and they will inform you that “Dentsu are in a bit of a mess locally”.

No surprises then, that news just in is that Dentsu’s out of home specialist agency Posterscope is being assimilated as the holding group restructures after the sudden departure of CEO Henry Tajer.

Out of Home will now sit within the client teams within Dentsu’s media agency brands; Carat, Vizeum and Dentsu X.

We understand that brands outside of Japan will still operate under the Dentsu Aegis Network name, with a centralised HQ looking after key regions, including APAC.

Toshihiro Yamamoto, president and CEO, Dentsu Group was quoted as saying “I am confident the restructuring of the international business will deliver the necessary savings and changes to our organisational structure that we need to deliver growth and margin improvement in 2020 and beyond”.

Whilst it would be nice to think that this move is all about programmatic DOOH and AdTECH it’s unfortunately not. The old leadership of three to four years ago appeared to have a very short term mentality. That exacerbated a number of problems which have now become very real. Those problems are biting hard, hence the assimilation.
