Paris Gets 2,000 Hand Sanitisers

To help ensure the safety of Parisians when the #COVID19 pandemic lockdown is lifted, the City of Paris and JCDecaux are deploying free hand sanitiser dispensers in public areas.

From 11 May and as part of a gradual roll-out, almost 2,000 street furniture items will be equipped with hand sanitiser dispensers, this includes three out of every four bus shelters, making 1,500 in total and ALL 435 automatic public toilets.

As the dispensers have a capacity of five litres they will allow for 3,300 applications and enable almost 6.5 million hand sanitising applications every week. The dispensers will be refilled and disinfected regularly by a dedicated JCDecaux team.

Jean-Charles Decaux, Co-Chief Executive Officer of JCDecaux, told us “I would like to thank the City of Paris for choosing JCDecaux to implement this ambitious project for the community. This new service that we are providing was set up in record time, just one month after receiving the request from the City of Paris. Many other cities in France and around the world have expressed interest in this initiative. Given the current health crisis, our teams have responded quickly by adapting and expanding the services provided by JCDecaux street furniture in order to meet public needs”.

Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris, said “The City of Paris is pleased with the partnership formed with JCDecaux. This innovative solution will help us to enforce barrier gestures and to provide better health protection for Parisians as they go about their daily lives. To complement this solution, we are already providing hand sanitiser dispensers in our municipal facilities”.

Thanks to Paris City’s investment and the responsiveness of its teams, JCDecaux worked with agility and speed to develop a practical solution for equipping street furniture with hand sanitiser dispensers in order to serve and benefit the general public.
