DPAA, the leading global trade marketing association representing advertising and content outside the home while driving the digitization of out-of-home media, announced this week that Coinstar, owner of self-service coin-counting kiosks found in retail stores, has joined the association.

Michael Jack, vice president of product at Coinstar told us “adPlanet is a powerful and exciting new Digital Out of Home advertising platform that allows brands to connect with shoppers as they are making purchasing decisions. As we seek to grow our relatively new digital advertising business, we have joined DPAA to gain access to its vast training and research resources and have the opportunity to network with its broad network of experts and professionals in the digital, programmatic and ad tech communities.”

In October, Coinstar launched adPlanet, a digital advertising platform that sits atop Coinstar® kiosks in supermarkets. The service allows regional and national brand advertisers to reach consumers at the point of sale with dynamic and tailored messaging on 32-inch, full-motion digital screens.

Coinstar currently has approximately 4,000 adPlanet-enabled machines in retailers across the country. The company has secured partnerships with programmatic solution providers to accelerate revenue growth.

Barry Frey, President & CEO of DPAA, said “With a footprint in many thousands of retail locations across the country, Coinstar is wisely capitalizing on the opportunity to leverage the power of digital screens to connect brands with consumers using timely, relevant messaging. As a new digital media owner, we welcome Coinstar to DPPA and we are excited to support their efforts to bring adPlanet to more retailers across the country.” .

DPAA now has members in EMEA, North America, South America, Asia and Australia.
