The @YanickDery #IamOOH Exhibit

The aim of the #IAMOOH exhibit is to give local businesses greater visibility through Modern Art Installations, with a Human, Objective Eye. We are told that the project’s outreach strategy is web-based, reusing photos of the billboards and the overall goal of the project is to showcase a creative idea that disrupts advertising norms in order to give brands greater visibility.

It’s the idea of Photographer Yanick Déry. Yanick is a seasoned photographer who left his home city of Montreal for the Eastern Townships when the pandemic hit.

He told us “Just before the pandemic, I already had the idea to create a billboard exhibit that you’d see on the roadside. The idea is to spotlight several advertisers who’ve chosen the product or service. Then I take a Polaroid-style shot, with a raw, natural aesthetic that conjures up the 60s.”

He was born and raised in Montreal. After ‘nishing’ his studies at CÉGEP du Vieux Montréal in 1993, he began work as a news photographer for two local papers, focusing on sports and special events. Meanwhile, he tried his hand at fashion photography, working with local models. In the years since, Yanick has photographed models and celebrities for countless prestigious fashion magazines and advertising clients.
