LOL = POPAI Claim 9,141 Visitors For Recent Paris Event

We are both baffled and impressed by the sheer audacity of the claim that there were 9,141 visitors to last week’s Salon Marketing Point de Vente event in Paris.
It would be easier to believe a figure like that if it was audited by the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) folks who have a special trade show division that do that sort of thing (it wasn’t).
We were trying to figure out how they could get anywhere near that number of people and came up with two solutions…
- One good way is to bus in school kids – we struggled past at least one bus-load of teenage school kids to gain entrance on the last afternoon!
- Be part of a large exhibition park where the other shows are all more boring than yours – we spotted several bored visitors from a neighbouring show by their colour coded entrance freebie bags!!
