Ben Whitaker Joins BenQ UK

Ben Whitaker has joined BenQ UK as an Educational Technology Consultant.

He will be working with educators and decision makers to share BenQ’s collaboration hardware and software solutions for the classroom and feed their user experience requirements back to into the future development of BenQ products.

Royce Lye, Managing Director at BenQ UK and Ireland told us “Ben has a passion for education technology and a proven track record of being at the cutting edge of innovation. We are very pleased to have him as part of our team to bring together forward-thinking educators and our solutions for creating engaging learning experiences. Initially, Ben will be taking to the road with the BenQ Bus visiting schools, academies, colleges and universities and running training courses on-board that demonstrate how our integrated hardware and software solutions bring dynamism and engagement into learning environments, whilst connecting to wider digital ecosystems to streamline teaching”.

Ben begun his career as a teacher in 2007 and subsequently became Assistant Principal: Head of Sixth Form. During his 12 years of teaching, Ben saw firsthand the advancement of online resources such as YouTube and the changing role of teachers and classroom contact time.

Recognizing early on that the education sector needed to embrace digital innovation, Ben became a Google for Education Certified Educator, Trainer and Innovator before joining award-winning #1 in the UK’s performance tables, Burnley College as a Curriculum Manager and Digital Transformation Lead, where he took on responsibility for apprenticeships, adult education, as well as business and digital courses.

Passionate about improving the student experience using interactive and immersive technologies, Ben proactively assisted colleagues in identifying, defining and overcoming the digital hurdles they faced and led the transition to Google Classroom by implementing BenQ Interactive Displays. In 2020 Ben was shortlisted for Digital Innovator of the Year Award at the Pearson National Teaching Awards.

Ben is a host of the popular Edufuturists podcast, where educators and thought leaders from around the globe share their experiences and ideas about best practice and the future of education.
