The Indian Outdoor Advertising Association (IOAA) in its Annual General Body (AGM) held last week has elected new office bearers for the period 2021-23.

Noomi Mehta, Chairman of the Board of Selvel One, has been elected as the Chairman; Pramod Bhandula, Chairman, JCDecaux India, as Vice Chairman, C D V Subba Rao, CEO & Director of Prakash Arts, as Secretary, and Roxanne Ichhaporia, Director, Selvel Publicity and Consultants as Treasurer.

Noomi Mehta takes over the Chairman’s role from Sunil Vasudeva, Chairman of Pioneer Publicity. Pramod Bhandula takes over the Vice Chairman’s role that was earlier held by Alok Jalan, MD of Laqshya Media Group. C D V Subba Rao takes over the reins of the Secretary that were held by Pramod Bhandula and Roxanne Ichhaporia has taken over the Treasurer’s role held by Shailender Luthra, Director of Brite Neon Lights.

Sharing his perspective on the way forward for IOAA, Noomi was quoted as saying “repeated lockdowns and restrictions on travel during the last 16 months have decimated our OOH industry. IOAA led by Mr Sunil Vasudeva has been extremely active during this time and has succeeded in wresting some concessions from the authorities. The hiatus has given us a chance at deep reflection and an opportunity to break from dead unproductive habits. We are determined to rebuild our industry using the latest technology to provide custom made solutions to our clients rather than following the earlier omnibus one size fits all strategy. We in IOAA are determined to reach and sustain double digit growth and usher in a brighter and better tomorrow for all our stakeholders.”

The change of leadership has taken place at a time when the IOAA is called upon to play an even greater role in steering the Indian OOH industry out of a challenging business situation where collective industry actions will help the individual media operators to retrace the growth path, improve their RoI, invest in the development of a common currency for audience measurement metrics, and benefit from policy advocacy.
