Clear Channel Europe Appoints First Chief Data Officer

Clear Channel Europe today announced the appointment of Andy Stevens as its first ever Chief Data Officer. Previously Head of Data and Programmatic for Europe, Andy will be responsible for leveraging commercial data as a strategic asset to enhance Clear Channel’s products and sales channels and drive revenue.

We are told that he will work closely with commercial leaders across the business, reporting to Richard Bon, UK MD & Europe Commercial Lead, to define Clear Channel’s shared data principles. He will also closely collaborate with the Technology team to ensure that the business’s data foundations provide a platform for data-driven growth.

Richard Bon told us “Andy’s appointment reflects both his success in leading our data transformation to date and the critical importance we place upon future data powered innovation, in realising our European Mission to Create the Future of Media”.

The appointment comes at a time when Clear Channel is undergoing significant technological transformation, with a core component of this involving shifting the role of data from supporting the value chain to being part of the value proposition itself.

As such, Andy’s primary focus will be on commercial data and undertaking a transformation where Clear Channel products and channels leverage data and AI as core components.

Andy joined the company in 2015 in the role of Senior Vice President of Insights and Analytics at Clear Channel Outdoor Americas (CCOA) – the Company’s US business division. He transferred to Clear Channel International as Commercial Innovation Director for Europe where he led the global rollout of RADAR – the out of home industry’s first-to-market suite of data and analytics tools that leverage mobile location data to enhance OOH for advertisers.

More recently, as Head of Data and Programmatic for Europe, he defined and led the European rollout of Clear Channel’s programmatic buying platform LaunchPAD. Andy has also supported the business in the creation of a framework for ethical data usage in accordance with GDPR regulations.
