What’s On During #MiamiTech Week / Month

Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief

If you believe it’s #MiamiTech Month, then it has already kicked off and you missed the start of it (yes April 1, 2022, go figure) but if you metaphorically signed up for #MiamiTech week as we originally did, and had planned your travel accordingly then you’d probably be heading to the Magic City, The Gateway to the Americas, Capital of Latin America, or indeed Vice City sometime this Easter weekend (again if you are celebrating Passover / Pesach or Easter then not the best timing for a ‘week’ full of events either).

I thought I’d never actually have a reason to legitimately say this (apart from arrant boasting) but the organisers of #MiamiTech Week / Month would learn an awful lot from the organisers of New York Digital Signage Week (now in its 11th year and yes, dear reader, that organiser is me, with 4000+ events and over 5,000 participants pre-pandemic because it’s obvious that a week’s worth of events is better than a month which is far too long to build any sort of buzz or FOMO).

So anyhow the week we had planned in Miami is still full of events but perhaps ever so slightly deflated with many folks observing the religious holidays and either not putting an event on that week or (simply) moving the event to some other time in April.

Having said that we fly Easter Sunday and here’s where we will be next week:-

  • Monday and Tuesday April 18-19, 2022 eMerge Americas Conference being held at the Miami Beach Convention Center
  • Tuesday April 19 LATAMDOOH | MIAMI, the DPAA’s first in-person event in the region
  • Wednesday April 20, 2022, the Ministry of New Media’s AdTECH: OOH – Miami Conference
  • Wednesday April 20 and Thursday April 21, COMOTION MIAMI ’22 at the Mana Wynwood Convention Center.

.. and if you are into space, flight, rockets and planes as we are, a big bonus is the (currently, fingers crossed) next launch from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center is April 21 at 06:14 AM where NASA astronauts Kjell Lindgren, Bob Hines, and Jessica Watkins and ESA (European Space Agency) astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, will launch aboard a Crew Dragon spacecraft atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. You can find crew bios and more information about the science launching with Crew-4 here.

Throw in the fact that vendors, manufacturers and media owners such as AdMobilize, Nanov Display, Inc., Prime View USA, Inc. and SwiftMile have offices and / or some great installations in the city there will also be a fair amount of networking taking place.
