Does @AVIXA Have A Toxic Work Environment?

Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief

During last week’s #NYDSW, the discussion amongst #AVTweeps was the rumour that CEDIA execs are no longer talking to AVIXA execs but that possibly now pails into insignificance with the possible accusation of a toxic work culture being levelled at those nice people in Fairfax, VA.

News broke over the weekend that AVIXA’s Senior Director, Marketing Barbara Goldstein (aka @AVshoeQueen) had unexpectedly quit.

On social media she wrote “Filled with gratitude for my wonderful, supportive hubby and my amazing friends who are here for me, even when I step off a cliff with no parachute.

I quit my job this week. A job that I loved, truly, with am amazing team and fantastic co-workers. But it was destroying my mental health, confidence and self-worth. And life’s too short for that shit.

If you needed to hear this today: It’s NOT you. Don’t let the bastards drag you down – they don’t serve you.”

On past form, one suspects that Rochelle Richardson AVIXA’s Senior Vice President of Expositions and Events is somehow party to this departure.
