See Shape With Sony And Magenta Research

If you look hard enough you can always find some statistics or research to support a proposition – in fact there must be some ‘law’ about this that supports such a theory 😉 Ed and this is probably just coincidence but we have started to see a lot more stories come in about installations with screens in haphazard shapes. As designated Videowall expert in the group, I will be picking up these stories and writing them in perhaps a little more technical detail than we would normally.

Bacardi Grand Entrance

Here we see Sony working with Magenta Research to put together two interesting screen patterns at the AmericanAirlines Arena (home to the 2006 NBA Champion team Miami Heat) – a sports arena that has caught our eye before being the first sports arena in the world to install A2aMEDIA’s Mediamesh technology.

Sports arenas the world over are looking to dramatically enhance the overall fan experience and if one thing is for sure it’s that The Heat certainly seem to be recognized as one of the leaders in this field.

Javier Caballero, Manager, Broadcast Services, The Heat Group, AmericanAirlines Arena explained “We were interested in creating an impressive digital display for our Bacardi Grand Entrance and Dewar’s Suite Level elevator landings” (pictures shown above and below).

It’s probably not a surprise that a Broadcast Services group inside a corporate (and we have seen this a lot inside stadiums as well) should choose Sony as a partner (this deal was done with Sony Stadium Systems group). Javier told us “We decided to use Sony’s ZIRIS Canvas digital signage solution to create dynamic video walls. We needed to distribute the signals in a cost effective manner but still retain high-quality high-definition video. When we approached Sony for their preferred solution, they recommended consulting with Magenta Research and stated that they had used Magenta Research products in the past with great success”

The MultiView series enable high-definition analog audiovisual signals to travel over UTP cable up to distances of 2,000 feet without repeaters or degradation of quality.

The Bacardi Grand Entrance is fully configurable and the Sony displays (the bezels are a bit large) are programmed with Sony’s proprietary ZIRIS software system – all the signal extension is provided by Magenta’s high-definition MultiView XRTx and AK600.

The Dewar’s Suite Level is another area that takes ‘fan enhancement’ and rebranding up a notch. Here the display screens highlight the Dewar’s brand, again using interesting video configurations running using the same Sony screens, Sony software and Magenta Research hardware as before.

All of the displays were located at substantial distances from the control room and therefore required a signal delivery solution to ensure the transmission of the high-definition 1080p content without degradation – this meant that an integral part of the total solution was Magenta Research’s MultiView Series transmitters and receivers (enabling high-definition AV signals to travel distances of 2,000 feet over CAT-5 (UTP) cabling without degradation of quality or introduction of delay).

This distance capability combined with zero-latency delivery makes the MultiView system the best choice for many video wall deployments.

About Magenta Research
