Press Touch To Grow

Touch screens are predicted to continue driving growth in several specific markets in the coming years, according to iSuppli [1]’s 2009 Signage & Professional Touch Screen Report.

According to the report, shipments for signage and professional displays applications are expected to grow 48%, from 971,755 units in 2009 to 1.44 million units in 2010. Total market revenue is expected to increase from $695 million in 2009 to $928 million in 2010.

The report forecasts education and conference rooms as providing the two biggest applications for touch screens in 2010, with resistive, optical imaging and electromagnetic the main technologies for these applications.

El Segundo, California-based iSuppli is predicting that touch screen module shipments for signage and professional displays applications will reach 5.4 million units or $2.9 billion in 2013, with compound annual growth rates of 55% for units and 4% for revenue from 2010 to 2013.

Besides education and conference rooms, other key applications driving the touch screen market will be indoor venues, retail signage and transportation.

Supporting the iSupply report findings we are seeing increased demand for large format touch requests coupled with introduction of new solutions such as the e-Board.

Linked is an example of the new touch screen-based solutions for education and corporate space scheduled to launch in Canada for Q2/2010. [2]

Wayfinding RFPs are also starting to spec-in interactivity w/ the maps and the information presented on the screens. my favorite quote comes from a reseller partner focused on interactive and kiosk solutions: “Static is Silly”
