#ISE2010 VideoWalls Galore

One thing we can guarantee at ISE 2010 in Amsterdam the week after next is that there will be a lot of exhibitors showing off video walls.

Nexus On-Demand [1] will be at the NEC Booth.

Prysm [3] will be under wraps in an invitation only suite, but undoubtedly inside the lucky few will see their new LPD based product. We will be very interested to see this emerging technology after a brief view of it at Infocomm in Orlando last year. We do know that it is also a modular-based display system, with the flexibility of size and shape that goes with that.

Christie Digital will have MicroTiles [4] everywhere on their stand, two configurations on our very own Blogger Lounge 10N118 [5] and a Skyscraper shape on the C-nario stand [6].

With all these types of technologies around now, those making large video wall displays of tiled Plasma or LCD panels with bezels of more than a few millimeters are looking increasingly out-dated, and can’t really justify making loud claims about thin bezels without looking a little silly.

Although simpler tiled panel arrays can be more cost effective on a smaller scale, these newer screen technologies offer significant overall display integration. When it comes to ease of installation, the conformity of the picture across the whole display, on-going monitoring and maintenance, for these display systems the balance swings back in their favour, and goes a long way towards justifying the higher initial cost.
