While our Jan. 25th article [1] on DOOH in British Columbia during the upcoming 2010 Vancouver Olympic and Paralympic Game [2]s focused on screens, we’re aware of others working in other sectors of the DOOH industry in relation to the Games.
One of these is Omnivex [3], whose software is being used in various digital signage installations in Vancouver – some of which have been completed just in time for the Olympics.
Among them:
- 180 screens at Vancouver Convention Centre [4], home of the International Broadcast Centre for the Olympics and Paralympics;
- An expansion of Vancouver International Airport [5]’s use of Omnivex software throughout the airport, now being used for flight, gate and baggage information displays, in addition to the wayfinding, customs, entertainment and general information screens where it was previously in use;
- 170 screens in 40 locations in Vancouver’s TransLink [6] public transit system, run by Lamar [7]’s Commuter Digital Network (across public transit lines including Canada Line [8] and Sky Train [9]);
- BC Ferries [10] – not really part of the Olympics, but many tourists in town for the Olympics will see the BC Ferry screen network going from the city up to the mountains;
- And Vancouver Aquarium [11], also likely to be viewed by numerous visitors to the region.
