Toronto-based Planet-Tek Systems has just announced addition of Canadian Health Food chain Nutrition House to its The Marketplace Station program. In signing the 5-year exclusive agreement, Nutrition House joins Whole Foods and 30 other natural health outlets currently part of the national health-oriented digital program managed by Planet-Tek.

Under a 5-year exclusive agreement, to commence January 2011 (with
select locations coming online in 2010), Planet Tek will provide
in-store digital content and advertising across the chain’s 60 stores.Under a 5-year exclusive agreement, slated to commence January 2011, Planet Tek will provide in-store digital content and advertising across the chain’s 60 stores.

In addition to serving ads and content across the network, the solution will enable instant barcode scanning to bring additional product information to shoppers and deliver more measurable data to vendors and advertisers.

“We want to connect our 60 plus locations together under a unified communication program that focuses on product education, helping both our advisors and customers learn more about the natural health products available, ultimately helping us sell more products to consumers while at the same time reducing our dependency on printed marketing brochures” – states Wayne Parent, President and CEO of Nutrition House.

This is a great example of ability of a niche, focused network delivering additional functionality to the end-user (beyond simplistic ad-revenue share) continuing to thrive and expand while many generalists find it hard to compete.
