#InfoComm2010 – Gefen Booth N1751

Chris Sheldrake

This week sees us with the final planning of our #InfoComm2010 diary – who to meet, which booth on what day and when and with whom (which clients).

Gefen are the latest to make the diary list with an interesting announcement with the unveiling of its new Digital Signage Creator (a new product which we are told joins existing digital signage solutions including a Hi-Def Digital Signage Player for scheduling pre-recorded content and a plug and play 2×2 DVI Video Wall Controller for creating a four-display video wall).

The new Digital Signage Creator allows for custom content development of video, audio, static image and data files and boasts an open standards format that can be easily managed.

The press release says that “It comes with its own Digital Signage Director software to enable complete customization of digital signage content with an incomparable amount of features. From drag and drop easy to complex custom script writing, the Digital Signage Creator delivers. Content can be pushed to the Digital Signage Creator for immediate updates, can be pulled automatically using the iCalendar function, or can be used in a hybrid mode that utilizes both manual updates and server feeds that are automatically updated”.

Each Digital Signage Creator comes with a sample library of content templates created by Gefen – one can only imagine how poor these are likely to be (from an engineering company) but looking forward to seeing for ourselves, Ed

We may have got the wrong end of the stick but the product sounds interesting. We will let you know more when we have seen and played with it.
