Small Broadcaster (DS And InstoreRadio) Italian Rules

Giuseppe Andrianò

Recently AGCOM, the Italian Agency for the communication sector, launched a proposal for a new law to identity who is broadcasting on small networks using satellite, internet or cable solutions.

The first step is for the agency to map the Italian operators who follow certain rules (reports of trasmitted material, historical video and audio log for 3 months) and pay a licence fee (3000 euros for Video networks, 1500 for audio or instore radio networks).

Italian operators have until 30 July to make their objections and propose modification of the rules.

There are also seemingly some implications for pan-european operators that need to be solved inside the European Community.
