SGIA Digital Signage Zone

Nice initiative from the Digital Screenmedia Association [1] in hosting a Digital Signage Zone during the 2010 Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) Expo [2] in Las Vegas, 13th – 15th October.

[3]

It’s an all-new Expert Advice Zone and is described as “a great opportunity to examine the process of dynamic signage workflow and discover how this growing market fits into your imaging business”.

This is exactly the sort of thing that (our) industry associations should be spending their time and money on (we heard rumours a while back that OVAB Europe [4] was in discussions with CeBIT [5] for something similar).

According to SGIA’s 2010 Technology Adoption Survey, most graphic imagers report they are not currently offering electronic signage/dynamic display (82 percent).

However, one third of these graphic imagers plan to eventually adopt the technology. Of those who currently offer this technology, an overwhelming 77 percent expect this to be a growing part of their business.

DSA’s Executive Director David Drain told us “Graphic producers have existing relationships with clients and should want to offer a full suite of signage. They also are looking for new product offerings and growth areas. Digital signage has experienced tremendous growth and interest over the last several years.”

The DSA Digital Signage Zone will provide an educational setting for Expo attendees to experience all of the requirements needed to manage and display dynamic content. Participants will meet leaders in the digital signage industry, establish contacts for future partnerships and test out the latest technologies.

We believe that the likes of 3M, Black Box, Clarke Systems, Daktronics, Ingram Micro, Keywest Technology, Microspace Communications, Nanonation, NEC and Symon are likely to participate.
