Target-ing Radio Shack Kiosks

Gail Chiasson, North American Editor

We’ve learned that RadioShack plans to put Bullseye Mobile kiosks in the majority of Target Corporation’s 1,700-plus stores in an effort to further build its presence in the mobile phone business.

The effort is a cross-branding partnership, since Target is known for its high traffic and desirable demographics, and kiosks selling high-demand items generally do well.

RadioShack, which wants to be recognized as a mobile-phone destination, has kiosks in such retailers as Sam’s Clubs, and is also a seller of Apple iPhones. The company has reportedly increased its marketing spending to focus on its mobile products as part of its efforts to revitalize the Radio Shack brand.

Radio Shack has already run a successful pilot project in 100 Target stores, and expects to have is Bullseye Mobile kiosks in most Target stores by mid-2011.
