SPEED 123 + Ingram’s Digital Signage Solution 101

Over 90 people from 73 companies signed up for last week’s Ingram Micro Digital Signage training in Toronto.

Designed specifically for IT resellers, the full day session at the Old Mill Hotel and Spa coincided with Ingram Micro’s CONNEX Program and was headlined by Lyle Bunn’s SPEED program.

Informed that the location could only accommodate 45 attendees (and limited to one representative per company), the resellers arrived early and many had to be turned away to the main IT-oriented CONNEX track.

The training, broken down into 3 sessions (SPEED Part 1&2, SPEED Part 3 and Ingram’s Digital Signage Solution 101) covered Digital Signage hardware, software, content, project planning and strategy. Attending resellers were supplied with access to Lyle Bunn’s planning templates and worksheets that they can leverage in their practice.

The day concluded with a joint Digital Signage and IT vendor fair where LG, Samsung, NEC, Peerless, Cables to Go and Broadsign showcased their components of a digital signage solution.

Having ran over a dozen Digital Signage trainings in the IT channel in the past, it was refreshing to see that most resellers were NOT expecting a silver bullet “solution in a box” spiel. Most expected a reasonable level of complexity and were ready to invest in resources or partnerships to cover holes in their expertise (mainly content). Many commented that they were already supplying hardware to digital signage projects and were looking to start providing the full solution to their customers.
