Intel Buys Cognovision?

We are not sure if there is any truth in this but it’s a rumour worth reporting – news in over night, after our (a) revelations that HP and Scala are partnering [1] (and yes if you are ‘press corps’ and heading to one of the under-NDA 1:1 briefings in London today you may as well not bother fighting your way through strike bound London cos’ that’s it, that’s the news) and (b) CoolSign has been sold for the umpteenth time [2], this time around to IP Video provider Haivision – is that audience measurement firm Cognovision [3] has ether done a big deal with Intel or more likely been ‘snapped up’ (i.e. acquired) by them (or more correctly by Intel Capital.

Interesting move if Intel do acquire Cognovision, it’s a great product but Intel has made a big play about working with multiple audience measurement partners so to choose to buy one and alienate others would be a strange move.

What next? Intel buys a digital signage software company?
