Content @ScreenVox #fail

Creative guy, Stephen Ghigliotty from ScreenVox [1] seems to have got his knickers in a twist about our role in the content world, tweeted in the last 8 hours [2] was this missive “DailyDOOH makes such a big f-ing deal about the top software companies but spare notice about the content houses. Man up. #dooh”

[3]That can only refer to our ‘Top 30 Digital Signage Software Vendors [4]‘ and #DSTop10 [5] work which, although we carry out our research throughout the year really only comes to the fore once a year.

Earlier barbed tweets included “How can digital signage be a viable industry with no content providers? Bloggers write breathlessly and rate the SW offerings. #fail #DOOH” which seems a bit unfair as we pride ourselves on covering all aspects of the industry.

We are the first to dish it out so must also be able to take it but we’d like to remind Mr Ghigliotty that content is one of our major interests and passions. Not only was I honoured to be one of the judges for Ocean Outdoor’s Live Creative Competition [6] earlier in the year, I’m a brand ambassador for the Digital Content Circle [7] and our team have been instrumental in setting up and running the OVAB Europe Content Days [8] (next up in Paris January 18th).

Stephen also tweeted “So who are the top 10 digital signage creative shops? Bloggers go on about software companies endlessly. It’s a fraud. #DOOH” which is an interesting challenge and ACTUALLY at least in Europe we can tell you because we recently did this piece of work for a client. The question is do you really want to know?

I have to say that the DailyDOOH team DO actually get heavily involved in the content side of the DOOH industry – they will often comment or have an opinion on creative which is invaluable feedback for a creative content agency and if you ever have any content that you want to ‘show off’ then they are more than happy to post articles and imagery with some brief words on how and why it was created. The DailyDOOH team supports all aspects of the DOOH industry and in my opinion that includes content creation. Keep up the good work!

Adrian forgot to mention his role in judging the new Best in Show Content Awards that will debut at DSE 2011 in conjunction with a Content Tour of fresh, creative content on display at the show. The awards criteria mirror the criteria of the annual DSE Content Awards but will recognize Gold, Silver and Bronze award winners in only the two major categories of Non-interactive and Interactive content.

Meanwhile, the judges for this year’s DSE Content Awards will be tasked with evaluating more than 100 entries, but we don’t recall any from ScreenVox.

I have been a judge for both Flash and Digital Signage awards…and DailyDOOH continues to pretend there is a real robust DS content industry.

List ten profitable digital signage content companies…let alone rate them like the software firms.
