The Nielsen Company [1], media audience measurement company, raised approximately $1.6 billion in its initial public offering Jan. 26/11.
The company’s shares were priced at $23 (higher than its earlier announced range of $20- to-$22. They were up more than 10.5% in trading.
Nielsen has been owned since 2006 by a group of private equity firms that includes Blackstone Group [2], Carlyle Group [3], KKR [4] and Thomas H. Lee Partners [5] who reportedly bought it for an estimated US$11.4 billion.
