Cisco #1 In The Digital Signage Market

Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief

We caught sight of this recent Cisco message to their channel with regard Digital Signage…

It started off “As you may know, we are in the midst of a significant inflection point for the DMS BU” – that’s Digital Media Suite to you and I note it says BU (Business Unit) and not BS (though the latter abbreviation may be more apt, but please, do read on) …

“We’re #1 in the Digital Signage market by market share (Frost & Sullivan, 2011), our sales continue to increase with 98% Y/Y bookings growth in Q2 FY’11, we have a $100M run rate business and we have garnered over 4000 customers worldwide” – quite where F&S who we have pulled up before on wild inaccuracies in their reporting get / massage their market share data is beyond us and perhaps Cisco ought to get a new calculator whilst they are at it as well.

For a run rate of USD 100M and 98% growth Y/Y, that would have meant that LAST year they were doing USD 3 – 12M per quarter and that’s hardly likely.

I throw my warlike shield. Lay on, Macduff,
And damn’d be him that first cries, “Hold, enough!”

    Pure Pony Poo!

Well thats it then. We can all pack up and go home I guess. Someone phone up DSE and cancel that too. Talk about being out of touch! Not only is their product a bit iffy, but the company is delusional too. Nice!

Yes we should all go home and do some navel gazing. Cisco consistently gild the lilly and stretch truth into new dimensions. Fact is they regularly loose projects due to grossly overpricing and a sycophantic arrogance.

I personally would have saved this post until the 1st April 🙂
