Stackable tiles, luminous images and the need for less power add up for an eye-catching display at the newest branch of People’s United Bank in Boston.

Deployment of the new display platform at the bank, a subsidiary of People’s United Financial, Inc., serving nearly 340 branches in New England, was announced today by Prysm, San Jose, California.

Prysm has invented a new display platform, powered by its Laser Phosphor Display technology, to deliver life-like, life-size video that can be organized into a display of any size and shape. The company’s brilliant, high-definition stackable display tiles provide customers with an engaging and brand immersive experience.

A Romance of Many Dimensions

bkm’s Audio Visual Solutions Group partnered with Silver Petrucelli Architects to provide an innovative and green digital display for People’s United Bank for the new location in downtown Boston,” says Jerilyn Snider, CTS, manager at bkm Audio Visual Solutions Group. “The Prysm solution was amazingly bright, used considerably less energy than conventional displays while still providing a freeform, virtually seamless and scalable display. With beautifully illustrated People’s United Bank images, stock exchange feeds and fun facts, the Prysm display draws customers’ attention and in turn has increased foot traffic at the premier branch.”

Recently installed in the bank branch in Boston’s thriving Prudential Center, home to over 75 retail stores and restaurants, Prysm’s seamless video installation delivers a most immersive consumer experience at a fraction of the energy cost. With its luminous, life-size images and unmatched viewing angles, the Prysm technology enables retailers, such as People’s Bank, to increase foot traffic and elevate the corporate brand, while not affecting additional infrastructure costs.

“We were looking for a cutting-edge technology that would transform the customer experience for our flagship project,” says David Stein, chief architect, Silver/Petrucelli + Associates. “Our team selected the Prysm panels because we were looking for revolutionary, not evolutionary. Our client wanted to make a statement and Prysm’s sensational panels allowed us to do just that by creating a billboard in the storefront that grabs the attention of everyone.”

Prysm’s display solution is made up of four key components which can be customized for any creative project:

  • One or more display building blocks;
  • Image processor;
  • User-friendly set-up and remote monitoring software;
  • Flexible frame options.

At the core of the Prysm LPD display platform is a nearly seamless 25” diagonal tile. Solid-state lasers deliver brilliant image quality for even the fastest action video content, viewable from 178-degrees, while using up to 75% less power than traditional backlit or projection technology-based products. Since Prysm’s display solution uses less power, generates less heat and has no consumables to monitor or replace, infrastructure costs related to space planning and air conditioning are lower. In addition to lowering total cost of ownership and operation for customers, Prysm’s display platform exceeds industry standards for energy use and environmental impact.

Dana Corey, vice-president of global sales and service, Prysm, says, “Prysm’s solution is unique in that it offers a spectacular image at any viewing angle. As we branch into different retail sectors, we look forward to impacting consumers and in this case, deliver a fresh approach to retail banking.”

Prysm’s Digital Mannequin was recently deployed in American Eagle’s flagship store in the heart of Manhattan’s SoHo district and this marks the next step of Prysm’s push in retail environments.
