Kiev Stadium Installs Enclosed DOOH

The forthcoming UEFA Euro 2012 championship [1] is being held in the Ukraine and Poland next year, with UEFA wishing to promote football in areas not previously having hosted the tournament. However the stadiums need to be updated to cope with the influx of people expected next year and weather conditions place special challenges to the outdoor media resources.

[2]The Olympic National Sports Stadium in the Kiev [3] has played host to premier events in the Ukraine since 1920, but renovation is underway preparing for the championship. In order to organise fans and the stadium areas digital signage and information screens were identified as essential to provide crucial information around the stands and ensuring visitors, most of whom will be different language speakers, have a safe and enjoyable time at the event.

The screens chosen by the stadium installers were designed for indoor use, and whilst they were going in the concourses inside the stadium, the environment wasn’t suited for the use of such hardware. Kiev can get very cold in the winter and the inside of the stadium has temperatures level similar to the ambient outside, furthermore, in such a raucous location, with tens of thousands of football fans expected through the concourses, there was a need for protection.

The company installing the screens turned to LCD enclosure manufacturer Armagard for a solution to protect the array of 52” screens being installed around the stadium.

Armagard [4]supplied 265 of their 52” LCD enclosures, which are designed to accommodate any make or model of screen.

As Armagard LCD enclosures contain climatic modules such as heaters and air filtration systems, the screens can be kept at their optimum operating temperature. Also being waterproof and manufactured from quality steel, the enclosures provided a comprehensive solution for the stadium.
