The Locals – Calling for Entries

San Francisco-based JiWire, mobile media company reaching the on-the-go audience, and Geo-Loco geo-location services, has announced a call for entries for the first ever location-focused awards, The Locals.

[1]The Locals is the first awards program of its kind to recognize the best in location-based services and advertising, including apps, individuals and brands.

“Location has become an integral part of the mobile, social, and advertising landscape,” says David Staas, JiWire’s senior vice-president of marketin. “With so many innovations coming from so many companies, we realized there is an opportunity to recognize those outstanding companies and individuals that are uniquely moving this ecosystem forward.”

Mark Evans, Geo-Loco Founder. “While awards have recognized many location-based services as a part of their roster, The Locals pay special attention to the achievement and innovation that has helped to develop this specialized community. We are fired up to bring the community together by celebrating so many of the thought leaders who are producing great products and great work in location.”

Developers, brands, start-ups and advertisers are encouraged to submit. Award winners and finalists will be announced and celebrated at the Geo-Loco conference, taking place in November this year at Mission Bay Conference Center at UCSF in San Francisco. Applications are available and may be submitted for the following categories:

Finalists from each category will be decided by a combination of judges and peer votes. Robert Scoble, tech blogger, author and ‘all things location’ evangelist as well as Michael Boland, senior analyst and mobile and location ambassador at BIA Kelsey, will be among those judging the awards.

Completed award application forms must be submitted to Geo-Loco here [1] by Sept. 16/2011.
