Gail Chiasson, North American Editor

The 65th Annual Tony Awards will again be simulcast live to Times Square on Sunday, June 12, in partnership with the Times Square Alliance and Clear Channel Spectacolor, in addition to simulcast co-sponsors Daktronics Inc., Cohen & Perfetto LLP and the Broadway Association.

Both the Tony Awards Red Carpet courtesy of NY1 and the entire Tony Awards show, including the Creative Arts Awards, will be seen on Clear Channel’s SpectacolorHD screen from 6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

The simulcast will take place, rain or shine, with full audio with seating available, starting at 5:30 p.m. in Duffy Square, throughout the evening.

“This will be our third year simulcasting the Tony Awards live in Times Square,” says Howard Sherman, executive director of the American Theatre Wing. “The simulcast and events in Time Square have become a fun tradition that we hope all New Yorkers will be a part of when they join us on Sunday evening.”

“Broadway and Times Square are inseparable, so we are thrilled that the greatest performers on earth can be seen digitally at the most dramatic stage on earth – the heart of Times Square,” says Tim Tompkins, president of Times Square Alliance.

The Antoinette Perry ‘Tony’ Awards are bestowed annually on theatre professionals for distinguished achievement. The Tony is one of the most coveted awards in the entertainment industry and the annual telecast is considered one of the most prestigious programs on television.
