In a shock announcement and one that will do more harm than good to the DOOH industry in the Middle East news reaches us that Andrew Wood has left Al Barq Digital.

The email below was sent to us anonymously…

I am writing to inform you of some changes in the management team at Al Barq Digital, Abu Dhabi Media’s Digital Out of Home business.

From today and with immediate effect, Andrew Wood is no longer working in his capacity as General Manager of Al Barq Digital.

Until further notice, please contact Ms Farah Masri (farah.masri@albarqdigital.com), Head of Business Development, or Mr Mahmood Jessa (mahmood.jessa@albarqdigital.com), Operations Director, for any business matters relating to Al Barq Digital and please do cascade this information to your team members as required.

Please be assured that it is Abu Dhabi Media’s priority to ensure smooth operations continue at Al Barq and our team remain committed to driving the company forward to even greater success in 2011 and beyond.

    Tragic for the industry in UAE, local management who lack the experience and talent of Mr. Wood. And I write this as a competitor.

    Feel sorry more for Al Barq Digital, they were actually moving in the right direction in the market. With Andrew Wood leaving, their loosing some visionary leadership, and that of one who could change the Out of Home landscape in MENA. I have worked with him at Al Barq Digital, and wish him nothing but the best. It’s Abu Dhabi Media’s loss, not anyone else. Their loosing some essential talent and strong management experience that is much needed
