How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By)

London Stock Exchange

Despite the truly awful PufferSphere® spherical display system from Pufferfish getting in the way in the picture on the right it’s nice to see one’s work on the front page proper (not the Companies & Markets section either) of Thursday’s Financial Times.

Shown here are two displays made up of MicroTiles; the inset / outset Mosaic designed by Alex Hughes at Amigo Digital on the ground floor and the Presenter Display on the balcony.

We are working on two book projects based around this install at the moment and my keynote at the International Scala Conference being held 14th and 15th September 2011 in Noordwijkerhout (near Amsterdam) in the Netherlands is entitled ‘How MicroTiles helped make an impact at the London Stock Exchange‘ as well.

It probably wouldn’t be fair to mention in that presentation how bad the Puffersphere is but we probably will; focus seems to be variable, colours can appear washed out, it doesn’t work particularly well in bright light, is huge and bulky and difficult to fit through doors and is EXTREMELY expensive for what it is. We reckon you could do better with a torch and a balloon!
