HP To Spin Off PC Business

Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief

With news that Hewlett-Packard Co. (HPQ), the world’s largest computer maker, is (likely) planning to announce the acquisition of Autonomy Corp. for about $10 billion and the spinoff of its personal-computer business we wonder if this is a good or bad thing for Scala?

Scala have benefited tremendously by it’s association with HP in the last 12 months.

Scala are not the only DS software company who have benefitted enormously by their partnership with HP. Just over a year sgo HP selected Wallflower as their DS software to market in the Asia Pacific region.

This led to a huge increase in sales for us much due to the increased profile we enjoyed because of the relationship. HP is such a household name worldwide that simply announcing that we were one of the only two suppliers, the other being Scala, that HP sold opened many doors.

Could make an interesting acquisition for HP in light of their recently announced strategy to become a software organisation?
