Late 2006 and early 2007 saw a number of UK screen network operators go out of business – AdtechDSN, Smartbox and Cabtivate to name just a few.

I remember at the time, fielding calls from a number of European network owners who looked to the UK as a bellwether for what would happen elsewhere – wondering what exactly what was going on!

The companies that went out of business, had either just got started or had flawed business models and were never going to work in the niche and locality that they had chosen. I would also argue that some of the networks weren’t exactly honest with themselves or their customers – not good for any business!

Bottom line, I actually think that this little shake-up was in reality good for the UK industry.

It’s better news then that another company involved in Screen Networks has come to the UK Alternative Investment Market (AIM).

Friday July 20th saw the i-design group, the folks behind ATM:ad join fellow music and screen network operators, Avanti Screenmedia, Imagesound and ScreenFX on AIM.

Their trading symbol is IDG.L
