Simon Crisp Ducks Out Of Kinetic

Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief

Simon Crisp, the chief executive of Kinetic in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) was (in our opinion) always Eric Newnham’s man so his resignation from the role this week came as no surprise to us – though as Eric left back in January 2011 and Simon is not due to leave until the end of October the length of his prolonged stay is a surprise.

Back in February 2008 the appointment of Eric Newnham (then Global CEO of Kinetic Worldwide Group Ltd) to the board of Simon Crisp’s (now defunct) Adwalker raised many eyebrows in the media buying world (even though that was a short lived Non Exec role as Adwalker proceeded to go into liquidation by July of the following year).

Eric though can obviously spot a good businessman when he sees one and a few weeks after Adwalker’s demise Eric appointed Simon as CEO. Kinetic for EMEA.

No doubt Kinetic’s Global CEO Steve Ridley will be wanting to appoint his own man to the role. We can think of a few other recent Kinetic hires who might want to be dusting off their CVs as well.

MediaWeek reported Simon Crisp as saying “The urge to start my own business again is just too strong”.

We wonder if the investors in (liquidated) Adwalker are as excited as he is?
