Italian retailer Natura Street rolls out screen network
Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief
Since 1970 family owned Italian company Natura House have been producing environmentally friendly, organic products for the cosmetics and healthcare industries. They were one of the first players in this market in Italy and their brand, both at home and internationally has gone from strength to strength.
Natura Street is their own retail chain of shops, selling their own products together with other people’s pharmacy. They are mainly inside Malls and shopping centers or as independent ‘corner shops’ inside supermarkets.
ARTEXE srl manage a fully integrated screen network on behalf of Natura Street – the installation is a mix of 32″ LCD screens in the shop windows and a mix of 17″ and 19″ screens on the back of the Point of Sale (POS) till system facing the customer at the counter (I told you this was a growing trend) and providing promotions on products and services.
There are 3 shops at the moment with screens, 15 by end of this year (2007). The network will be 100 strong by the end of 2008.
Artexe are using the Firecast Operating System from Wirespring on IBM SP300 hardware appliances. The screens in the Windows are Samsung 320PX 32″ LCDs.
For the POS / Till / Counter screens Artexe developed a custom network application running on another hardware appliance which acted also as a router/firewall to serve the in-store network connections (POS connectivity to the central administration servers etc.)
