If you are attending Customer Engagement Technology World [1] at Javits Convention Center in New York this week, try not to miss stopping at Booth 221 where Vigix [2], based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, will be showing off what it calls ‘the world’s smallest vending kiosk’, capable of dispensing physical and digital products from a footprint of just 2 sq. ft..
Vigix technology includes a complete, retail-management software system that is web-based, enabling central control of and reporting from an unlimited network of kiosks.
Vigix enables manufacturers, retailers, and distributors to establish a direct and profitable connection to consumers exactly at points of need. These include airports, mall concourses, end-caps inside retail stores, convenience stores, and large office and college campuses.
Among the elements that make the sleekly-designed Vigix unique are its no-moving-parts dispensing system, resulting in solid reliability, and its proprietary cartridge-swap replenishment, resulting in greater efficiency by eliminating the need for trucks, drivers, and inventory constantly on the road.

Ok I’m impressed. How do you make a physical dispenser with no moving parts? What releases the product yet doesn’t move?

Google is my friend. A pulse of heat melts a hook holding the product into the dispenser. Does this limit it to lightweight goods?

Thanks for your interest, Bryan. There is a limit to the weight of the product that can be dispensed, but Vigix can handle something as light as a credit card or as heavy as a cell phone, digital camera, pair of headphones, or a tablet computer.
