It Still Won’t Glow For RAM Vision

RAM Vision [1], owned of course by AIM listed RAM Active Media plc [2] (previously RAM Investment Group plc) don’t send us press releases anymore but a number of sites have written about their wonderful five-year contract to provide content for the 21sqm indoor LED screen at Bluewater’s new event venue Glow [3].

Let me just look at RAM Vision's Operating profit (m)

RAM Vision we are told will manage the network, and work with brands and event organisers that wish to use the screen.

Lots of other wannabees have tried their best to get in on the news, LED specialists ADI [5] most probably did ALL the hard work and installed the screen – a 6mm SMD indoor product from the company’s proprietary Virtuality range of screens but Saturn Communications proudly claim that “the installation includes a full content control suite, based around Saturn’s ConnectVision software solution to power the screen alongside Broadsign to schedule advertising content”.

Just how that works is beyond me, mind you with the amount of advertising that RAM Vision (even including recent acquisition Brandplay UK) are likely to sell on the screen you could probably schedule the advertising using two tin cans and a piece of string.

What’s more likely is that ConnectVision is used somehow for the non-advertising screens and BroadSign for the advertising screen in the Mall.

The LED is located on the wall of the cinema in the new Plaza space, the idea being no doubt to give event organisers, experiential agencies and brands a new platform on which to publicise activities.

Glow is a 5,200 sqm venue in the heart of the Bluewater retail mall and has taken 18 months to build. The space cost owners Lend Lease GBP 60 million and opens on 30th November 2011.

Not sure why the DailyDOOH has such a downer on RamVision but surely it says something positive that LendLease, the owners of Bluewater, granted the contract for the new screen to RamVision? (Particularly given that the owners of Bluewater(for a long time the UK’s number one ranked mall) have copious previous experience with Dooh and Ooh providers going bust).

Our group have just sold a network (BrandPlay) to RamVision and we did it because we believe that at their business is moving in the right direction. In essence (which should be a source of satisfaction to DailyDOOH as it is following your mantra) RamVision is focussing on sales and is no longer overweighted on the ‘development’ side. As far as we can see it is a pretty good sales team too. So we expect much better numbers from them this year and next plus a share price moving back upwards as well…which success will presumably will be welcomed by all of us in the industry and by DailyDOOH?
