Scala Inc. and IAdea, this week jointly announced a new generation of HTML5-capable digital signage devices from IAdea which are designed to work with Scala’s Enterprise Content Manager software and SignChannel, Scala’s low-cost cloud-based service.

IAdea’s new XMP-3250, XMP-3350 and XMP-3450 media appliances, as well as the new XDS-1950 and XDS-2450 digital signboards, now ship with HTML5 capability built-in AND together with the new IAdea Bridge Server version 3.0 from Scala will allow users to schedule HTML5 content through Scala for the new IAdea devices.

“We’re excited to have support from IAdea for their next generation players,” stated Jeff Porter, Scala’s President, SignChannel. “HTML5 support means that even low-end appliance-based players can display advanced graphical animations and real-time data.”

IAdea’s Executive VP Rex Chen told us “Three years ago, IAdea changed the digital signage industry by providing the SMIL open platform, which is now the largest interoperability ecosystem in digital signage,”

He added “Today we are changing the industry once more by bringing HTML5 to the Scala’s leading management platform, reducing content production cost while making digital signage applications always fresh and relevant to the viewer, a key success factor to great digital signage which has been difficult to achieve.”

The new products from Scala and IAdea will be available worldwide in February 2012. Scala and IAdea will jointly demonstrate the new solution at #ISE2012 and later in March at #dse2012
